Families of the Derry
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting website and I just come across it recently. I am particularly interested in “The other Ferguson Settlers” in Beckwith Township. Catherine (Ferguson) McGregor married Peter McGregor date Oct.24, 1818. A bit of background on this entry - Catherine Ferguson is my 3Xgrandmother and came to Beckwith with the family of Alexander McGregor and his wife Mary McCallum on the ship Sophia from the Parish of Balquhidder, Perthshire in 1818. Alexander settled on SW1/2 of Lot 8 on the 6th concession of Beckwith. Catherine was the fiancĂ© of Peter (the squire) McGregor, the oldest son of Alexander and was listed as Catherine McGregor on the Sophia. Peter and his brother Archibald also drew lots in the same area as their father Alexander but were not satisfied and the following year exchanged them for lots on the 9th concession. Peter settled on theSW1/2 of lot 8 concession 9 Beckwith. In 1821 he married Catherine Ferguson and they remained here and raised their family on Mississippi Lake. After many years of researching, I have not succeeded in finding the family or the ancestors of Catherine Ferguson.
Thank you
ReplyDeleteI am from the Peter Jones line that is on the land grant map. I am also from the Ferguson, Moore, Roe, Poole line from this area.

Hello Bill M, I received your comment on my blog about Annie Ferguson, who is my great grandmother. Would love to know more about her ancestry. I'm not sure what the best way is to get in touch with you. My email is lynncarr23@hotmail.com. Thanks so much! Lynn Carr
